Philadelphia is one of four cities across the United States where it is cheaper to own a home than to rent, according to a recent report from Seattle-based real estate company Redfin. The other cities that provide a discount to homeowners are Detroit, Cleveland and Houston. The city's housing inventory remains low as housing prices rise and mortgage rates remain stagnant. Meanwhile, renters are spending larger portions of their income on housing as rental prices rise due to ongoing inflation.
