As the Greater Manila Area was placed under the strictest form of lockdown again, the Philippine government announced that it would provide P1,000 in cash assistance to residents.
That amount, criticized as meager by labor groups and residents alike, was supposed to cover for the lost days of work during Holy Week, according to the government.
The lockdown was later extended, but no additional aid was provided.
