QU institute to carry out Qatar Youth Survey

The Policy Department of the Social and Economic Survey Research Institute (SESRI) at Qatar University has been awarded a grant from the National Priorities Program – Standard (NPRP-S) 13th Cycle to conduct a Qatari Youth Survey. The grant is funded by the Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF).
The NPRP-S was set up to select research projects to address national priorities by supporting basic and applied research and translational research, and experimental development.
In an interview with The Peninsula, the Policy Department Manager at SESRI, Dr. Noora Lari, said the grant would cover a two-wave Qatari Youth Survey (QYS). She said the survey’s goal is to understand the educational, professional, and social transitions in the lives of young Qataris aged 18-29.

Doha: Qatar has achieved advanced positions in several areas that are among the main pillars covered in the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) reports in previous years.
Qatar was ranked first in the Arab world and among the top 10 countries in many indicators. In the institutional pillar, Qatar ranked 7th globally in the “efficiency of the legal framework” index, 6th in the “government response to change” index, and 8th in the “long-term government vision” index.
The latest edition of The Global Competitiveness Report 2020, was published recently.
This report noted that Qatar is among the top ten countries in adopting ICT, flexible work arrangements, digital skills, and a digital legal framework, becoming the second Arab country in the classification.

Doha: The Social and Economic Survey Research Institute (SESRI) plays a vital role in research and contributes to achieving Qatar National Vision 2030, says Prof. Abdoulaye Diop, Manager Research Department at SESRI.
SESRI is a social scientific survey research initiative of Qatar University established in 2008. Its mission is to provide data to guide policy formulation in the social and economic sectors. The Institute covers a wide range of research of importance to Qatar.
“The Institute has been an important tool for research and capacity building for Qatari nationals in survey research methodology. Additionally, SESRI is a platform for Qatar University faculty and students to conduct their research.
