A Chinese company that forged its Canadian lawyer s signature on dozens of immigration applications has been ordered to pay the lawyer $400,000 for breaching its contract with him.

The Town of Stony Plain is making an effort to support local businesses struggling through the second year of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Last month, during the Apr. 12 regular council meeting, council members approved the 2021 Business Licence Fee Rebate an initiative driven by the Growth and Commerce Committee. The rebate reflects a similar program offered in 2020 wherein 99 businesses applied, totalling $4,325 in refunds.

“Providing support for our local businesses is crucial in the COVID-19 environment. Many business owners have been forced to adjust their operations or even temporarily close shop. We have an incredibly resilient network of entrepreneurs in town, and we want to do everything we can to support them through these challenging times,” said Mayor William Choy.
