Pangasinan town hall closes to public amid soaring cases

CALASIAO, Pangasinan - The municipal government offices here, except for those providing frontline services, are on lockdown from Wednesday to Friday to give way to disinfection and contact tracing. In Executive Order (EO) No. 6 issued on Tuesday night, Mayor Joseph Arman Bauzon said this is to safeguard the welfare of his constituents, which encompasses the implementation of rules and guidelines to prevent further contagion of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). "As of January 18, 26 employees of the municipal government of Calasiao have tested positive for Covid-19 via the rapid antigen tests administered by the Municipal Health Office, raising concerns of contagion among other employees," he said. He added the temporary closure of all municipal government offices is necessary to avoid further spread of infection as well as to give way to contact tracing, confirmatory reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction testing, and give ample time for thorough disinfection
