Jean Swift is a member of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and one of several Indigenous women in Connecticut redefining the vision of leadership within her community.
In the northern portion of the district, District 1A, voters will choose between Republican John Burkel, of Badger, and DFL candidate James Sceville, of Thief River Falls. In the southern portion of the district, District 1B, voters will choose between DFL candidate Cynthia Ansbacher, of Crookston, and Republican Deb Kiel, also of Crookston.
