First agreement in Canada to reduce the carbon impact of air travel Edmonton International Airport (EIA) and Air Canada are signing a new partnership to reduce carbon emissions and advance a green and sustainable aviation sector. The EIA-Air Canada Sustainability Partnership aims to reduce the carbon impact of air travel with both organizations working together to test emerging green technologies at EIA s Airport City Sustainability Campus, an ecosystem that EIA created to foster environmental innovation. The partnership reflects both corporations pledges to sustainability and reducing carbon emissions to a net-zero future. The EIA-Air Canada Sustainability Partnership will focus on initiatives that will promote a cleaner environment and include the following:

United Airlines to Lead Industry Switch to Sustainable Aviation Fuel with Global Corporations, Customers – Advanced BioFuels USA

Takeda Pharmaceuticals “While we’ve partnered with companies for years to help them offset their flight emissions, we applaud those participating in the Eco-Skies Alliance for recognizing the need to go beyond carbon offsets and support SAF-powered flying, which will lead to more affordable supply and ultimately, lower emissions,” said United CEO Scott Kirby. “This is just the beginning. Our goal is to add more companies to the Eco-Skies Alliance program, purchase more SAF and work across industries to find other innovative paths towards decarbonization.” United has made the airline industry’s single largest investment in SAF and has purchased more SAF than any other airline in the world. World Energy, a long-term partner of United, will supply the SAF to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), which makes it conveniently accessible to United’s operations.

The modifications to the refinery, an investment of approximately EUR 190 million, will enable Neste to optionally produce up to 500,000 tons of SAF per annum as part of the existing capacity.

United partners with corporate America to ramp up sustainable fuels

April 27, 2021 United will purchase 3.4 million gallons of the sustainable fuel this year out of the of the 4 billion gallons airlines uses a year. United Airlines is doubling down on a still-nascent path to decarbonizing its operations sustainable aviation fuel. Through a new partnership with some of the country’s largest corporations, the Eco-Skies Alliance, United will triple its use of sustainable aviation fuel this year.  This demonstrates really incredible market leadership, but we need sustainable aviation fuel to be the norm, not the exception, said Lauren Riley, United’s head of global environmental affairs and sustainability. Indeed, the alliance will help United purchase 3.4 million gallons of the sustainable fuel this year with funds from corporate partners that rely heavily on business travel.
