Mar 04 2021 General National maritime transport Company (GNMTC) announces the acquisition of a new crude oil tanker for which the name (Ebn Hawkel) has been chosen. This acquisition of a modern oil tanker that conforms to the highest standards of quality, maintenance, and requirements of major oil companies (OCIMF) is a major achievement for GNMTC, The vessel was built under the supervision of the British Classification Society (Lloyd’s). This acquisition by GNMTC is the start of its first phase of the renewal of its fleet and will contribute to the company realizing its future plans. GNMTC is working in cooperation with its partners to continue developing its important position and role in both the regional and international oil transportation industry.

Libya’s state General National Maritime Transport Company (GNMTC) announced on Friday (26 February) the acquisition of two newly manufactured oil tankers.
It said this comes within the framework of implementing its 2020-2023 plan to modernize and develop its marine fleet.
The two tankers, named Fezzan and Anwaar Benghazi, were manufactured in 2021 and specialize in transporting crude oil or its derivatives, the GNMTC reported.
GNMTC said that as of the date of receipt of the tanker Fezzan, Wednesday 24 February, and of the tanker Anwar Benghazi, Friday 26 February, the two tankers officially joined the fleet and entered service for the first time.
