Burnette said she wouldn’t hesitate to spend $100,000 to primary a candidate who didn’t go along with what she wanted. He said city commissioners, including Nancy Miller and Gil Ziffer, who have since left office, would call to check her position on issues before voting.
“They know that if you (expletive) with her, she will run someone against you,” Burnette said. “She doesn’t have to have you, and they know that. So they’re very concerned about taking a position averse to her. She is a powerful weapon. It’s just not a position you want to find yourself in. It’s just not good.”
