The Eatontown Borough Council has adopted an ordinance which creates a four-way stop at the intersection of Clinton Avenue and South Street. Previously, the intersection had one stop sign on the eastern Clinton Avenue side.
The four-way intersection is in a residential neighborhood and both streets are connected to Route 35. The eastern Clinton Avenue side with the original stop sign is accessed through a traffic light on the state highway.
A resolution passed by the council states the action will enhance the safety of the intersection.
Prior to the ordinance’s adoption, Daniel Guthrie, a retired captain with the Eatontown Police Department, said he did not believe a four-way stop would increase safety at the intersection.

EATONTOWN – Two Democrats and two Republicans are seeking their first three-year terms on the Eatontown Borough Council. The four candidates are running unopposed in the June 8 primary election.
The terms currently held by Republican Joseph Olsavsky and Democrat Jasmine Story will be on the ballot in the Nov. 2 general election. Neither incumbent council member is seeking re-election and their terms will end on Dec. 31.
Seeking the available terms, according to information provided by the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office, are Democrats Coleen Burnett and Mariel Hufnagel, and Republicans David Gindi and Everett Lucas.

EATONTOWN – Members of the Eatontown Borough Council have authorized contracts for professional services during 2021.
On Feb. 10, council members authorized three professional services contracts that total $16,011. Each contract took effect on Jan. 1 and will run through Dec. 31.
According to a resolution, the first contract totals $9,375 and is for architectural services to be provided by Settembrino Architects.
The second contract is for tax appraiser (tax appeals) services from Gagliano and Company in the amount of $4,500.
The third contract is in the amount of $2,136 and is with Gluck Walrath for bond attorney services.
Historic audit of N.J. mail-in election is complete. The results are promising, officials say.

Recount confirms Jones, Regan are winners in Eatontown election
The recount was held on Dec. 28.
In the Nov. 3 municipal election, the two available terms on the governing body were sought by Jones, Regan, Republican James Corcoran and Democrat Mariel Hufnagel. Regan was the only incumbent council member on the ballot.
When the election results were certified by the Monmouth County Board of Elections on Nov. 20, Jones, with 3,250 votes, and Regan, with 3,228 voters, were the apparent winners as the borough’s voters tapped one Democrat and one Republican.
Hufnagel received 3,218 votes and trailed Regan by 10 votes. Corcoran received 3,105 votes, according to results posted online by the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office.
