Firefighters called to Eastway Tank after a deadly explosion ripped through the industrial building in January battled more than just flames, communications obtained by CBC reveal they also dealt with collapsing walls, spilled fuel and the constant threat of secondary blasts.
It's been about three months since an explosion killed six employees of Ottawa's Eastway Tank, Pump and Meter Ltd., and one widow says she is still seeking answers about that fatal January day.
Ontario's Ministry of Labour says it found a safety issue early in its investigation of the Jan. 13 explosion at Eastway Tank. The ministry has declined to specify the issue, citing the ongoing investigation.
