For more than four hours on Sunday, 10 members of the Johnson family’s eyes were glued to their phones. Nothing could distract them.
On their screens a Facebook Live showed a SWAT standoff unfolding with several police cars surrounding a brick home and officers wearing helmets.
The live videos, posted by a resident on the 6200 block of Eastridge Drive, near Arlington Avenue and 10th Street, were posted in segments. Some lasted 10 minutes. Others lasted two hours. All showed the same scene.
It didn’t matter to the Johnsons. They begged the user to keep filming.
“I even left a few times and watched it while I was driving,” recalled Wendy Johnson.
