土耳其7月起幾乎解除對中共病毒疾病（COVID-19，2019冠狀病毒疾病）而實施的所有防疫措施，2日至5日連續4天新增病例數皆低於5000例。但是17日至25日伊斯蘭教宰牲節假期確診病例數一路陡升，23日超過1萬例、昨天更飆破2萬例。
針對近日病例飆升，衛生部長克扎（Fahrettin Koca）歸咎民眾於宰牲節9天假期間沒有遵守防疫守則。並稱「當前活躍病例中，完全接種疫苗而感染者不到5%。87%住院病患尚未完全接種疫苗。」

克扎表示，變種病毒影響日益顯著，打亂當局針對達成群體免疫所作規劃，升高防疫風險。
土耳其逾8300萬人口中已有6990萬7544人至少接種一劑疫苗，其中2525萬7990人完成兩劑施打。
