Abstaining from state polls depends on public, says ENPO president

Our Reporter Dimapur, Sep. 30 (EMN): The decision of the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) to abstain from participating in Centre and state election process till its demand for a separate state is fulfilled is gaining momentum with the Eastern Nagaland Students’ Federation (ENSF) announcing its first phase of ‘mass public walkathon movement’ on October 7 in all the eastern Nagaland areas. However, the 20 legislators from the region and political party workers are yet to declare their non-participation in the upcoming state assembly election due next year. On this, ENPO president Tsapikiu Sangtam told Eastern Mirror that its resolution to abstain from 2023 state assembly election “will also depend on the public referendum”- from all the tribes in the region. “Although the apex tribal bodies and student organisations of the eastern area have extended unceasing support towards ENPO’s resolution, it will all depend on the public and we will not say anything,”
