To the Editor:
During National Nurses Week (May 6-12), nurses deserve our support, recognition and appreciation more than ever. I m writing to recognize a particular group of nurses who are Ridgefield’s unsung heroes, a special team that works continuously behind the scenes to keep our community safe and healthy: the school nurses of Ridgefield Public Schools, St. Mary School and Ridgefield Academy.
From day one of the pandemic, our school nurses have gone above and beyond for the teachers, staff, families and children of our community. They eagerly and bravely returned to school during the pandemic and adopt new protocols to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 in our school buildings. They donned protective equipment, such as N95 masks, medical gowns and face shields, and cared for students and staff members exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms before they could be sent home long before a vacci
Hamilton County Schools Announces Personnel Updates Thursday, April 29, 2021

As the district looks to the 2021-2022 school year, Hamilton County Schools announced several personnel updates on Thursday.
Angie Cass has been named the principal at Soddy Daisy High School. She previously served as principal of Ooltewah High School.
Ms. Cass is a product of Hamilton County Schools and a 23-year veteran of the district. Throughout her career, she has worked as a teacher, district curriculum coach, assistant principal and principal at a variety of schools in the district. While Cass served as principal at East Ridge Middle, she led the school to become a Reward School in 2016-2017 and back-to-back years at Level 5 status. She also held the role of assistant principal of Soddy Daisy High School for four years. Cass’ accomplishments include being named TSSAA District 3 A.F. Bridges Principal of the Year (2019), serving as an HCS Mentor Principal

Board of Education Budget
The Board of Education will discuss the Superintendent s Proposed Budget and adopt a budget on Monday, February 22. The Board of Education will present their Budget to the Board of Selectman on Wednesday, February 24. Don’t hesitate to reach out with questions.
School Status
Elementary school students will continue in the full in-person learning model. SRMS and ERMS continue to remain in hybrid. RHS also remains hybrid; however, due to the number of families who are opting for Temporary Remote Cohort C, families choosing in-person cohort A/B are able to attend five days in person, so long as RHS attendance rates remain low and can accommodate this option. Families should contact their child s school counselor at RHS with any questions.
