Grant Helps Build New Splash Pad In East Ridge Friday, May 28, 2021 - by Gail Perry The new splash pad being built at 1509 Tombras Ave. in East Ridge is being paid for with help from a Local Parks and Recreation Fund grant. At the Thursday night city council meeting, Mayor Brian Williams was given the authority to accept the limitations that come with the LPRF grant and to make sure that it meets the use requirements for the grant.
The council also passed a resolution to allow the mayor and city manager to execute the revenue contract between the city and the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation regarding the conversion of property in Camp Jordan.
$16.5 Million Food City In East Ridge To Provide 100 More Jobs; Winners Chosen By Lottery For 2 Liquor Store Sites Friday, April 23, 2021 - by Gail Perry The Food City grocery store in East Ridge will be moving across the street when a new store is built at 3636 Ringgold Road, which will be an assemblage of three properties, including an old bowling alley. The new store will have around one and a half times the space iasthe old Food City and will include a Gas ‘N Go. It is expected that the larger store will create 100 additional jobs. This will be a $16.5 million investment for K-VAT, the owner of Food City, said Stephen Spangler with Marathon Realty.
East Ridge Finalizes Plan To Have 2 Large Liquor/Wine Stores; Developers To Be Chosen By Lottery Friday, January 29, 2021 - by Gail Perry
The city of East Ridge on Thursday night passed the final version of an ordinance that established the rules and regulations for retail package liquor stores. Some amendments were made to the ordinance that passed on first reading on Jan. 14.
The city will be divided into two zones. District A is commercial property between Belvoir Avenue and the Bachman Tunnels. District B is property with road frontage on Ringgold Road between Moore and Spring Creek Roads. One store will be allowed in each of the two districts.
