Last month, Cape Breton's Victoria County received a total of 254 bids on 17 properties, the highest response to a tax sale on record. Some officials wonder if it's another sign of Nova Scotia hot real estate market.
Inverness County RCMP have charged two people accused of violating public health rules in North East Margaree last week.
They say they got a report last Wednesday afternoon two people who recently came to the province were not answering their phone when compliance officers called them to check on their quarantine.
Police went to the home twice that evening and found no one was there.
They say a man and woman were home when officers went back the next day but the two didn’t have a reasonable explanation for not quarantining.
Both were charged under the Health Protection Act and fined over $2,400.

Nova Scotia RCMP have fined a man and a woman for failing to self-isolate after entering the province earlier this month.
According to a news release issued by RCMP Wednesday morning, police were notified on May 5 that two people who had recently entered the province were not answering calls from compliance officers who were trying to check on their self-isolation.
HALIFAX The Nova Scotia RCMP have fined a man and woman in Cape Breton for failing to self-isolate upon returning to the province. Inverness County District RCMP say at approximately 2:35 p.m. on May 5, police were notified that two people who had recently entered Nova Scotia were not answering their phone when compliance officers called them to check on their self-isolation. Police attended the residence, located in North East Margaree, N.S., at 5:45 p.m. and found that no one was home. Police returned at 6:50 p.m. and found that there was still no one home. The next morning, police returned to the residence for the third time at 11:55 a.m., and found both people were home. Police spoke with them, and say neither provided a reasonable explanation for not complying with their self-isolation requirements.
