Care home resident s 1,000-step-a-day sponsored walk a success

A RESIDENT at a Musselburgh care home has completed a sponsored walk to help provide nursing care for the terminally ill. Janet Kerr, 73, a resident at Eskgreen care home, took on a 1,000-step-a-day sponsored walk in March as part of her keep fit regime during the Covid-19 lockdown. With the aid of a trolley, she exercised by walking up and down the corridors of the East Lothian Council-owned care home on Shorthope Street. She raised £500, which will be shared equally between Marie Curie and the home’s welfare fund, which provides entertainment for residents. Janet handed over a cheque to Fiona Busby, a local representative from Marie Curie, who told her that the money would help provide a night shift palliative care nurse.
