SPRINGFIELD As he got ready for school Monday morning, Jaiden Jimenez, 11, said some affirmations and did some tapping meditation to help him conquer his first day at Glickman Elementary School in Springfield.
“I was feeling anxious because it’s my first day and I was meeting a lot of new people that I had only seen on the computer before,” he said. “I really find it (tapping) helpful because it calms me down when I’m at my hardest times.”
Jaiden is one of thousands of elementary school students across the state who started their first day of in-person learning following a mandate from the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education that all Massachusetts elementary school children participate in some form of in-person learning starting April 5.
