AUBURN â When students entered the gymnasium Wednesday, it wasn t for a physical education class.Â
The Cayuga County Health Department hosted a COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Auburn Junior High School â the latest in a series of clinics this week at local school districts. On the other side of the city, East Hill Medical Center and Auburn Fire Department EMTs held a clinic for students at Auburn High School.Â
In three days, East Hill and the health department have administered first doses of the Pfizer vaccine to 522 students in six Cayuga County-area school districts. The health department will visit Cato-Meridian on Thursday and Union Springs on Friday, while East Hill will hold its next clinic at Jordan-Elbridge on Thursday. East Hill said it plans to administer 101 doses at the J-E clinic.Â

With children ages 12-15 now eligible for the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, the Cayuga County Health Department is working to secure doses for clinics that will be held later this month.Â
Cayuga County Public Health Director Kathleen Cuddy said Friday that they are planning to hold vaccination clinics at Cayuga County-area schools beginning Monday, May 24. On that day, clinics will be held in the Port Byron and Weedsport school districts.Â
The clinics continue Tuesday, May 25, at Moravia and Southern Cayuga schools. Vaccinations will be administered at Auburn High School and Auburn Junior High School on Wednesday, May 26. Cato-Meridian and Union Springs will round out the schedule on Thursday, May 27.Â
