Today, it's imperative that a company, large or small have a social mission and a story, not just a product or service. Consumers are far more willing to spend money with a company that is attached to a cause and has a tale to tell than a business with neither.

Jan. 3
A 46-year-old man from Waterbury was charged with second-degree abuse of persons, third-degree assault, third-degree criminal mischief and interfering with an officer.
A 33-year-old Myrtle Avenue man was charged with first-degree stalking, violation of a protective order and breach of peace.
A 53-year-old Bergh Street man was charged with traveling unreasonably fast, driving under the influence and failure to drive upon right.
A 34-year-old Mountain Road man was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
A 43-year-old Dean Street woman was charged with sixth-degree larceny.

A 38-year-old Tilden Road man was charged with driving under the influence and failure to grant one-half of highway to oncoming traffic.
A 22-year-old High Street Extension man was charged with reckless driving and failure to drive upon right.
A 33-year-old woman from Carmel, N.Y., was charged with sixth-degree larceny.
A 57-year-old woman from Somers, N.Y., was charged with sixth-degree larceny.

A 31-year-old woman from Waterbury was charged with sixth-degree larceny.
