The new engines will be installed as part of a supplemental type certificate (STC) upgrade program. The original G-111 aircraft was powered by piston engines. Longtime employee Jill Albertelli is taking over as president of Pratt & Whitney’s military engines business, company officials announced Monday.
The East Hartford-based aerospace manufacturer said Albertelli will be taking over for Matthew Bromberg, who is leaving the company after 20 years to “pursue another opportunity.” Albertelli was most recently Pratt & Whitney’s senior vice president of transformation and strategy and oversaw digital technology and the building of Pratt’s new turbine airfoil production facility set to open in 2022, in Asheville, North Carolina.
Pratt & Whitney unveiled the next generation of its geared turbofan (GTF) engine for Airbus this week that the company said will set industry standards for fuel efficiency and sustainability.
The East Hartford-based jet engine maker, a Raytheon Technologies Corp. business, showcased the new GTF Advantage engine Thursday. It described it as “the world's most fuel-efficient and sustainable single-aisle aircraft engine.”
