The volunteers of the Jasper Fire Department say a fire that broke out around midnight on Wednesday evening east of Jasper destroyed what was left of a home that was being torn down. The Jasper Firefighters were dispatched to the location, across from the Goodman Prison Unit on Highway 190, shortly after midnight, when it was reported that the structure was on fire and soon after their arrival called for assistance from the East End Fire Department. Firemen said it appeared that someone who had been tearing the house down earlier in the day had started a small fire which was either left burning or rekindled and spread to the home.
