Democrat Jasmine Flores: the race for Erie City Council

Two years ago, Jasmine Flores narrowly missed claiming an Erie City Council seat.  Flores finished fourth in the May 2019 Democratic City Council primary just behind Michael Keys, who went on to win a council seat that November. She s hoping for an even more successful run this time.  Flores, 28, is among eight Democrats and two Republicans in the City Council race.  Four of council s seven seats are on the ballot for the May 18 municipal primary. All seven council seats are currently held by Democrats. Along with fellow Democrats Elspeth Kate Koehle and Kendrick Tate, Flores is running as a slate connected to the citizen advocacy and social justice group Erie County United.

Waterfront Toronto has released its vision for an ambitious overall of a slip located at the foot of Parliament Street in the city’s East Bayfront neighbourhood. The plan would see the area surrounding the slip transformed into what Waterfront Toronto says would be a “world class, public destination for swimming, kayaking, boating, entertainment, and dining.” The planning process is still underway but Waterfront Toronto’s vision for the area includes a “water amphitheatre, a floating restaurant, a canoe/kayak launch, a water transportation hub and a floating dock with concessions.
