GODFREY Early Bird Registration for high school seniors is now under way at Lewis and Clark Community College in a virtual format.
“For our district seniors, graduation is just around the corner, and Lewis and Clark wants to help make the transition to college as smooth as possible,” said Assistant Director of Admissions, Records and Recruitment Ryan Hodge.
Seniors taking advantage of this opportunity will be able to choose their courses and create their ideal class schedules for Summer 2021 and/or Fall 2021, in some cases before or just as open registration for fall begins March 15.

WOOD RIVER Lifelong Wood River resident Mike Anderson is announcing his candidacy for the Wood River City Council.
Anderson was appointed to fill Gale Ufert’s term following her death last year.
Anderson grew up in Wood River, attended St. Bernard’s Grade School and Holy Angels Parish. He is a 1986 graduate of East Alton-Wood River High School and is a graduate of Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. An Illinois licensed professional geologist with more than 30 years of mining industry experience, he currently is a geotechnical investigator for the Illinois Mine Subsidence Insurance Fund.
SCU Community Foundation donates $25,000 to schools

EDWARDSVILLE Six schools recently received more than $25,000 through a new grant program from the Scott Credit Union Community Foundation.
“At a time when schools may be struggling to fund projects that will benefit their students, we wanted them to know that we are ‘With You,’” said Frank Padak, Scott Credit Union President and CEO. “We established the With You education grant program last fall to support initiatives that positively impact the young people of our community.”
A volunteer committee reviewed the 61 applications received; all submissions remained anonymous until after the winners were selected. Winners were chosen based on need, the percentage of student enrollment impacted by the project and the direct benefit the projects will offer to students. Selected schools were:
