MOUNTED police have been drafted in to help tackle youth disorder - as Inverclyde s police chief thanks local parents for their co-operation in the crackdown. Chief Inspector Paul Cameron says that trouble in the area has dropped by half in the past fortnight. Groups of up to 50 youngsters have been gathering illegally at hot spots such as Earnhill Road and Inverkip Beach up to and during the Easter break. In one shocking incident a patrol car came under attack from yobs as it rushed to the aid of a 15-year-old boy who had been stabbed. Hundreds of pounds of alcohol was seized, along with drug paraphernalia.
