The AP reported on the lack of mask wearing in Abilene even as COVID deaths spike there. Owners of the Shed Market barbecue joint refuse to enforce the governor’s mask mandate, even though one is a nurse and the other lost a grandparent to COVID.
Longtime Dallas pitmaster Earnest Griffith has seen more struggles than any one man should, and now he needs our help:
For the past 45 years, Earnest Griffith has not only served up barbecue, but he has made his mark on the neighborhood. https://t.co/TJ403dOwBg

Back Country Barbeque Restaurant has been in business since 1975, and is located on Greenville Avenue just north of Park Lane. Earnest Griffith (pictured) has been the pitmaster at Back Country since its inception. Earnest has put in six to seven days a week for 45 years preparing smoked brisket, ribs, pork, etc. for Back Country clientele, as well as setting up catering for outside events all throughout Dallas. Earnest is approaching retirement age and with that on his mind, he received some bad news. Earnest has been diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer. His many friends and customers are working behind the scenes to get Earnest treatment from the best hospitals and doctors in this part of the country. Those friends sincerely request support for Earnest as he and his family fight this diagnosis. A GoFundMe account has been created at gofundme.com/earnest-help-for-earnest.
