Caregivers excited with K15, 000 monthly stipends

Caregivers in Traditional Authorities (T/As) Khongoni, Kalolo and Kabudula have expressed excitement with the government’s decision to introduce K15, 000 monthly stipends, stressing that this is a huge motivation to them. George Sam Betha, one of the caregivers in T/A Khongoni, said the stipend will help them improve their social and economic livelihoods. Social development shuts down illegal creche after Alex toddler burnt with boiling water Updated Nokukhanya N Mntambo Share this: The Department of Social Development in Gauteng has shut down the Stepping Stone daycare centre in Alexandra, Johannesburg, following an incident that left a toddler severely burnt earlier this year.  Twitter/FightAgainstAbuseAndViolence It’s understood the boy sustained the injuries when a teacher at the creche allegedly used boiling water to clean him after he soiled himself.  Following site visits by the department, the day care was found to be operating illegally.   “In terms of Section 80(1)(a) any person or organisation may establish or operate a partial care facility provided that the facility is registered with the Provincial Government where the facility is situated,” said the department’s spokesperson Feziwe Ndwayana.
