Earl ‘Buzzy’ Burton
May 6, 1923 Jan. 2, 2021
Earl Harvey Burton, age 98, died Jan. 2, 2021, with his loving wife Beverly by his side.
Earl lived his entire life in Vacaville except for the two years he served in the Philippines as a Navy machinist during World War II. After the war was over he worked as a master machinist building submarines at Mare Island.
Earl was a proud member of the Burton family, hardworking and careful stewards of the Burton Ranch, that trace their time in Vacaville back to 1885 when Earl’s grandfather, Richard Burton, settled here.
Earl ‘Buzzy’ Burton gained his nickname because his sister, Esma (1920-1925), could not say ‘brother’ and called him ‘Buzzy’ instead.
