For several days last week, the tripcock tester on westbound platform 3 at Earls Court was defective. Trains were allowed to keep running because the rules say the tripcock only has to be tested once per trip, and another tester on the District Line was working OK.
But it's obviously better to be tested more than once, and to get a defecive tripcock tester replaced pronto in case the other one conks out too. So why did it take so long? Why could it not simply replaced with a spare?
