The annual Northern Warfare Challenge will take place in La Crosse, featuring 52 teams from coast to coast and including Washington and Vermont. The competition begins on Friday with winter survival skills and a written exam on survival tactics. The second day includes a ruck marathon, where teams will traverse a 16-mile bluffs course testing their physical and mental prowess. The event has earned a reputation as the "Hardest Race in ROTC," and the Eagle Battalion at UW-La Crosse is looking to defend its title. An award ceremony will be held on Saturday afternoon at the flagpole atop Grandad Bluff.
