The Wayne County Health Department's E-Waste Event, held at the Wayne County Fairgrounds Saturday morning in Fairfield, produced a large turnout. According to information received by WFIW/WOKZ, the health department said the response was 'overwhelming", with the event ending much earlier than noon, when the event was scheduled to conclude. The department said it had limited space on a semi to begin the day, and only seven pallets remained open at 8:15 Saturday morning. The health department said it ended up collecting about 18,000 pounds in material in under an hour. Other E-Waste events will be held in the future, but dates have not yet been set.
