It s been almost 200 years since A Visit from St. Nicholas - better known today as Twas the Night Before Christmas - was published, authorless, in the Troy Sentinel on Dec. 23, 1823.
Who wrote the now-famous poem? A mock trial was held 190 years after the poem was published. Livingston v. Moore: Who Really Wrote A Visit from St. Nicholas ? was presented in December 2013 at the Rensselaer County Courthouse. E. Stewart Jones represented long-accepted author Clement Clarke Moore; Jack Casey was the lawyer on behalf of plaintiff Henry Livingston Jr., whose descendants claim he actually wrote the poem for which Moore took credit.
