their own party committee can when it comes to the debates get out of the day. representatives from all the campaigns minus carly fiorina met in a meeting in washington. not involved is the republican national committee. now here we are less than 24 hours later and we have their demands, specifically among these demands from the different campaigns you have no asking a question where they raise hands to answer a question. no lightning round. prearemoval of graphics and biographies. 30 seconds for opening and closing statements and the list goes on and on. bottom line, they want control. the temperature will be no warmer than 67 degrees. matt lewis is here to discuss. and politics reporter dylan byer.
dylan, do you agree with that? i have pages of the demands. wasn t one of them about the moderators. yeah, i think the point is right, which is you have all of these demands, but when you get down to it, the only thing that gets to substance is they want parody in terms of the amount of questions that each candidates gets and the quality of questions. but as rnc spokesperson said earlier today, i can t put words in moderators mouths. at the end of the day, they are going to ask the questions they want to ask. the signal has been sent they want more substantiative questions. from the campaigns as well. but the moderators are going to ask the questions and the day we start letting campaigns tell debate moderators what questions they can and can t ask the media companies are holding the debate. if the candidates don t want to show up, they don t have to. we re getting into this silly season where the campaigns are
i was shocked the same thing happened to me. they took a picture of me without my shirt on. [laughter] got that photo right here. [laughter] but you did not have it first. [laughter] there were a bunch of questions. these guys did not invent that kind of television or information. i honestly these things have been around forever. they do it in a different way on a different medium at a different level. i do not find it particularly threatening to journalism at all. in fact, if you listen to what he said, we make lots of calls and we check it out and verify and then republish it. that is pretty much what journalism is. that is pretty much what it is. they do it on a guy with a really good abs, but it is just journalism. if arnold schwarzenegger was not a hollywood guy i m sure the mayor candidates felt quite lonesome here. he is a celebrity. i do not think journalism has changed. i think what we all need to do is stop pandering on it so much. get back to business
