The itinerant photo exhibition “Photographic Memories of Lagoa” is on display at the Southworth Library in Dartmouth through May 26 to commemorate Lagoa s 500th anniversary. Dartmouth and Lagoa, Azores, are Sister Cities.
Anniversaries can be extra special when celebrated with relatives and friends, and the Azorean municipality of Lagoa is making sure its extended family around the world -including its sister cities and towns in Massachusetts and Rhode Island -is a part of its 500th anniversary milestone celebration.
After halting most activities on land and in water for two years due to Covid, 2022 is gearing up to be an exciting year for the Azorean Maritime Heritage Society with the election of a new president, several projects in the works and participation in the International Azorean Whaleboat Regatta.
