still hand wringing going on. from my perspective, president biden is doing a very good job, i think his handling of ukraine, passing the american rescue package, the huge infrastructure package, i m not quite sure what the disconnect is, between the accomplishments of the administration, and this congress, and the understanding of what s been done, and the impact it will have on the american public, and some of the, you know, the polling and the ongoing hand wringing, i ve always thought that the best politics is doing the best job you can do, and there s a lot that democrats can talk about this in upcoming midterms. i m well aware that midterms are obviously always difficult for the party in power. but we ve got a great story to tell. and we need to get out there and do a better job of telling it. and for those who say it hasn t gone far enough, that s always the chorus in democratic party politics. but i would add that in republican party politics, you
i think that there was a growing sentiment among people on the news side, and not exclusively the news side, that this was different and that this was dangerous. that what tucker carlson was doing was in a sense gathering up a lot of the strain that he had amplified or touched on in his various broadcasts since the january 6th siege of the u.s. capitol and tied it together in a narrative, giving credence to every claim, allegation, characterization and conspiracy theory seemingly that he had run across in furtherance of undercutting both the seriousness of what occurred on january 6th and also the connection of trump supporters and anyone in sort of the larger trump circle with what happened on that day and what led up to it. and, you know, there had already been not just hand wringing but angst and acrimony internally

violently overthrow the government on january six. there s been a whole bunch of judges hand wringing over this, and then today, for the very first time, a judge handed down a harsher sentence than what the government was asking for. sentencing one rioter to 45 days in prison, and saying quote, there have to be consequences for participating in an attempted violent overthrow of the governments, beyond sitting at home. the government had asked for home confinement. there have to be consequences, beyond sitting at home. it s true. it s such a simple obvious truth, but too many have lost sight of. i mean, january six was the most direct threat to american democracy, since fort sumter during the civil war. it s like a lot of people to make it happen. most of those people just went back in a normal life with zero consequences. from the rioters on up. obviously, the now disgraced
