The victory represents the first for the Scorpions after three straight defeats. Despite the victory, the Scorpions remained bottom of the six-team table with four points and need to beat fourth-place Barbados Pride in the penultimate game of the preliminary round on Sunday to clinch the last semi-final spot. Both Barbados Pride and fifth-place Leeward Islands Hurricanes are locked on four points with the Scorpions but are ahead courtesy of better net run rates.
