A donation of six automated external defibrillators, or AEDS, has been made to the Michigan State Police post in Paw Paw. MSP Public Information Officer DuWayne Robinson tells WSJM News the AEDs were donated through the Kalamazoo Mortgage Hero Salute initiative. Troopers are trained in how to use them and keep them in their vehicles.
“They are trained initially on how to use AEDS when they go through recruit school in Lansing, and then they are trained annually as long as they’re a member of the department,” Robinson said.
Robinson said he has used an AED on someone experiencing cardiac arrest twice in his career.
