Govt trying to resolve issues of SME sector on priority basis: Abdul Razak Dawood

Daily Times July 12, 2021 Advisor to Prime Minister on Commerce, Textile, Industries, Production and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood said that small and medium enterprises (SME) sector was contributing 95 percent share to the national economy and the government was fully cognizant of their importance and trying to resolve their issues on top priority basis. Addressing a meeting of All Pakistan Bed-sheets & Upholstery Manufacturers Association (APBUMA), he said the economy had been stabilized and now a new target for exports would be fixed after Eidul Azha during a meeting of stakeholders with Prime Minister Imran Khan. He said the government was already providing facilities to the SME sector. He said that most of the raw material consumed by the SME sector had been zero-rated. The remaining taxes and duties would also be withdrawn so that the SME sector could fully exploit its potential and give a quantum jump to national exports, he said.

FBR issues a draft of rules for New Export Facilitation Scheme

Daily Times July 11, 2021 The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued a draft of rules for new Export Facilitation Scheme 2021 and sought comments from industry, exporters and other stakeholders. According to FBR press statement issued here Saturday, the New Export Facilitation Scheme has been approved by the federal government and passed by Parliament under Finance Act 2021. This scheme would be implemented from August 14, 2021 and would run parallel with existing schemes like Manufacturing Bond, DTRE and Export Oriented Schemes for two years. The existing old schemes would be phased out in next two years and would be fully replaced by Export Facilitation Scheme-2021, the statement said adding that the draft rules could be accessed at official website of FBR.The Salient Features of new EFS-2021 include minimum documentation and encourages new entrants and SMEs.

He was addressing the business community at the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) here on Saturday. He said that in this regard a series of meetings had been proposed with the stakeholders immediately after Eid. One meeting would be held with Prime Minister Imran Khan so that the exporters could interact directly with him and highlight their core issues.
