For the second consecutive month, revenue streams at Pennsylvania casinos topped $400 million, according to a report from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.
Combined gambling revenues totaled more than $404.1 million in April.
That’s up significantly from the $46.1 million seen in April 2020, when non-life-sustaining businesses were forced to shutter because of the covid-19 pandemic. And it’s about $120 million higher than revenues recorded in April 2019, when gambling revenues totaled $283.8 million.
Last month’s numbers also topped revenues recorded in March, which totaled more than $403 million.

New Jersey brick and mortar casino revenue soared in April, fueled by what many industry insiders describe as “pent up demand.”
Data from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, which regulates the state’s casinos, show that the nine gambling establishments brought in $189.6 million from their casino floor winnings this past April. They brought in nearly $185 million in March.
All nine casinos had to shutter in-person operations during April last year in a bid to halt the spread of COVID-19. And so, the NJDGE notes that there cannot be a valid year-over-year comparison. Rather, insiders are looking at 2021 comparisons to 2019 – a year that scored numerous record-breakers for the casino industry.
Michigan s internet betting revenue takes off
Michigan s foray into legal online gambling continues to gain momentum, even exceeding the high expectations that surrounded the launch of internet sports betting and gaming earlier this year.
The state s internet gaming operators brought in $95.1 million in receipts in March, the second full month of legal online gambling in the state.
“Online casinos are on pace to earn $760 million in revenue this year, and that’s a staggering number, analyst Geoff Fisk of MichiganSharp.com said in a statement Tuesday. I think that figure shatters even the loftiest expectations for Michigan’s online casinos.”
