VAN WERT – During Monday’s City Council meeting, Mayor Ken Markward prepared remarks regarding the “parklet”
that was placed downtown on Main Street. He said he had not personally
heard any comments about the downtown seating area, but heard some

VAN WERT – During Monday s Van Wert City Council meeting, members of
Council heard about future efforts to promote cleanliness within the
City. During the last meeting, a concerned citizen approached Council
about the amount of litter at Towne Center Square. Mayor Ken Markward updated Council on the situation.
Markward noted that after inspecting the surrounding areas, not all of the trash was coming from one business.
Council seeking grants to fund bike path projects

VAN WERT – During Monday’s Van Wert City Council meeting, Council
passed legislation that would allow the Safety-Service Director to apply
for grants to help pay for a bike path that would eventually connect
the reservoir trails to the bike path.

VAN WERT – During Monday s Van Wert City Council meeting, Van Wert
Area Economic Development Director Stacy Adam asked Council to consider
preparing legislation regarding two topics she spoke about.
Adam
first spoke about the CHIP (Community Housing Impact and Preservation)
grant. The CHIP grant helps rehabilitate single-family homes that are
owned and occupied by low to moderate-income households.
The cost
to apply for the grant is $10,000. Economic Development manages the
program on behalf of the county, and in past agreements, they have asked
that Council pay half of the application costs if it is not approved.
