District nurses deliver Covid vaccines to patients at home

THOUSANDS of people across County Durham who are unable to go out, are receiving their Covid-19 vaccination at home from County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust s district nursing teams. Malcolm Walker, associate director operations for community services, said: “Not everyone is able to attend one of the vaccination centres set up across the County. We’ve worked with GP practices – and Durham County Council as part of the County Durham Care Partnership – to ensure people in the top priority groups, as identified by the national Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), are able to have their vaccine as quickly as possible, in the safety and comfort of their own home.

County Durham: New mass vaccination centre could be open by next week

A NEW mass vaccination centre could be ready to open in County Durham as early as next week. Health bosses for the region have previously raised the prospect of a site in the county to complement facilities currently up and running in Washington and Newcastle. And if a deal can be agreed on a new venue, it is hoped it could be ready to start dishing out jabs as early as Monday (February 15). “[We] put forward seven sites to the regional organisation as potential vaccination centres in County Durham,” said Michael Laing, director of integrated community services at the County Durham Care Partnership (CDPC).
