PORTSMOUTH - When the University of New Hampshire pivoted to remote instruction last March at the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, then-junior Sam Kitfield found himself picking up his guitar more and more frequently to pass the time. As the seasons changed and sunnier days became the norm, Kitfield had a thought: Why not take his talents out to Portsmouth and perform for the public?
“Portsmouth is a place that thrives on arts and that’s one of the reasons I busk there. You don’t need a permit,” he said of the city’s sidewalk performer guidelines. “It’s a friend to the arts.”
