Firefighting crews were busy containing a small wildfire on Ophir Pass, south of Telluride, Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning and plan to extinguish it within the next three days.

Firefighters responded Tuesday afternoon to a rapidly growing wildfire west of downtown Durango that required heavy air support throughout the afternoon and into the evening.

Firefighters stopped the Perins Peak Fire on Wednesday as mild weather and significant air resources helped crews limit the growth of the blaze to just 2 acres.

Pre-evacuation orders are in place for County Road 208 and the Dry Fork and Rockridge subdivisions, as well as County Road 206 to Highway 160 due to a wildfire burning near Perins Peak west of Durango.
