DuPage County Clerk Jean Kaczmarek s office has completed four discovery recounts for the Nov. 3, 2020, General Election, requested by four Republican candidates: Jim Oberweis for U.S. 14th Congressional District, Jeanette Ward for Illinois 25th Senate District, Bob Grogan for Office of DuPage County Auditor, and Tim Whelan for DuPage County Forest Preserve Commission District 4. The estimated cost to the County to conduct the four recounts was over $100,000, most of which is not recoverable from these candidates.

DuPage County Clerk Jean Kaczmarek announced Monday that discovery recounts in races for four offices in the Nov. 3 election confirmed the results she certified Nov. 24.
Losing candidates Jim Oberweis (14th Congressional District), Jeannette Ward (Illinois 25th Senate District), Bob Grogan (DuPage County auditor) and Tim Whelan (DuPage County Forest Preserve Commission District 4) had sought the recounts. Ballots from 286 of 930 precincts were recounted over nine days, starting Dec. 7 and concluding Dec. 23. Grogan is challenging the election results in a suit filed Dec. 24.

DUPAGE COUNTY, IL The DuPage County Clerk s Office recently conducted discovery recounts in four races from November s election. The discovery recount petitions were submitted by Jim Oberweis for the U.S. 14th Congressional District, Jeanette Ward for the Illinois 25th Senate District, Bob Grogan for Office of DuPage County Auditor and Tim Whelan for DuPage County Forest Preserve Commission District 4.
Out of 930 precincts in DuPage County, a total of 286 precincts were recounted. This is in addition to a state-mandated recount of 47 precincts, which found no changes, according to a news release.
