Buffy Friedrich describes the loss of her second job in May after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic as a devastating blow. One of her jobs contributed more than $26,000 to the family budget annually, offering security — until the economy turned. “I wasn’t sure if we would make it,” said Buffy, a Dubuque nurse. “You think you’re good until you’re not good.” The predicament spurred Buffy, 41, and Shawn to assess their spending habits in late spring.

This Favorite C V Restaurant Returns To Downtown Waterloo in 2021

This Favorite C.V. Restaurant Returns To Downtown Waterloo in 2021 In early October, when we reported that Doughy Joey s Peetza Joynt was closed and demolished, many fans of the restaurant were in shock to see it being torn down. After 10 years of business, the Cedar Falls location is being replaced by a Dupaco Community Credit Union. Now, in a sign of hopefully many good things to come in the new year, Doughy Joey s is coming back to its previous downtown Waterloo location, on the corner of West 4th and Jefferson Street. In April of 2014, owners Chuck and Joanna Landau made the decision to downsize their personal business and sold the Waterloo location. Now plans are being made to move back into that same building.
