Below the Surface is a Stuff series about five shark attacks that occurred in the 1960s and early 70s off the coast of Dunedin. But it’s what happened after that had a lasting impact on Jordan’s life. Following Les’ death, a letter arrived in the post from a family in Moeraki, Otago stating they had also lost someone to a shark attack more than half a century earlier. He never forgot it. “I remember that [letter], so that’s why I’m thinking I might be able to write to these people,” Jordan said.
