Nothing ventured, nothing gained : Award-winning Fife painter joins new art world craze

© Mhairi Edwards Do you know your fungibles from your non-fungibles? Wormit watercolourist Angus McEwan is joining artists like Damien Hirst in a digital revolution. From displaying a urinal in a gallery to a canvas being shredded at auction in front of stunned onlookers, the art world is anything but dull. The most recent craze is selling unique pieces of data called NFTs instead of physical works of art. “I have been watching it for a little while and I thought maybe it’s time to dip the toe into the market,” says Angus. “It might die and death but I think nothing ventured, nothing gained.”

The next generation of artists star in Fife gallery s exhibition

Having had their final year of study cut short – as well as missing out on the rite of passage that is a degree show – these 12 artists demonstrate that creativity can continue to flourish even in the most trying of times. Tatha owner and director Lindsay Bennett says the gallery decided to branch out for its first exhibition of the year, The Graduates: Four Pillars. Due to ongoing Covid restrictions, its entire run will be virtual.
