The Brazilian variant of COVID-19 has arrived in New Brunswick.
Public Health says the microbiology lab at Moncton’s Dumont Hospital has confirmed the Brazilian variant in a previously reported case from the Bathurst region.
The Indian variant was found last week in the province and the South African and U.K. variants were detected earlier this year.
One death
Public Health has confirmed someone in their 80s has died as a result of COVID-19 which brings the total number of pandemic deaths in the province to 40.
The individual was a resident of Pavillon Beau-Lieu, a special care home in Grand Falls.
