Of the 1 million doses from the Serum Institute of India, Gauteng will receive 85 500 doses for the public health sector and 130 000 for the private sector.
The public sector employees who will be vaccinated include all Gauteng Department of Health employees. However, it does exclude municipal health workers and non-personal employees such as security guards and cleaners.
There are several dependencies and constraints that we have identified for the rollout to be successful. These include the timing of the EVDS system for the registration for staff to book appointments to be vaccinated and the delivery of the vaccine by the national department of health, added Malele.
